Event Summary:
After months of planning, Saturday, June 1st arrived with a sense of excitement in the air. Robert Hall’s 20th Anniversary was finally becoming a reality!
The day began with mass celebrated in the newly painted chapel with Father Bob and Father Leo as celebrants. As former staff and students entered the school, they signed in at the registration table, thus beginning the event that would allow alumni to float back in time to a school that holds such powerful memories.
Alumni were invited to walk the hallways of the first floor and reminisce down memory lane, looking at pictures from the 20 year
history of the school. More alumni, their families and friends arrived during the day which saw a baseball game between the alumni and the Hall cheerleaders, and a soccer game which took place in the pouring rain.
Alumni and their families had the opportunity to chat with their former teachers in the great hall. Throughout the day all participants had the opportunity to enter a raffle in order to win over $3,000 worth of products and gift certificates generously donated by the merchants of Caledon East and Orangeville.
At 5 o’clock, everyone was invited to the gym to listen to the formal speeches of several honoured guests and to enjoy our fantastic concert band present In the Hills, composed by Ryan Meeboer specifically for this event. Former band members were invited to play with the present concert band. Following the formal presentations, a delicious BBQ dinner was served in the cafetorium with 12 String Music providing some jazz entertainment.
The day concluded with a pub in the cafetorium along with DJTJ providing music for the evening. All the prizes were awarded in the evening including a 42 inch plasma HDTV as the top prize.
The anniversary was a wonderful event with the sharing of so many memories. It was great to see so many former students and staff members, including the school’s very first principal, Jon Austin. A huge thank you goes to Tara Ross and her committee members for putting in such a fine effort and making the day such a success.
We look forward to the school’s 25th Anniversary!
